A note about rain cap sizing:
We want you to order the correct rain cap for your application. If you do not frequently work with pipe or tube; there is a difference in the outside diameter of the pipe and tube:
- Tubing's outside diameter is the actual dimension as that you measure. For example, an 8” tube has a physical outside diameter measurement of 8”.
- The dimension associated with a particular pipe size (or Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) references the inside diameter of the pipe. For example, an 8” pipe has a physical inside diameter of 8 inches, and an outside diameter of 8 ½” inches for a schedule 40 pipe.
In the description of our rain caps we use both Tube and Pipe.
To ensure you order the correct rain cap, measure the Outside (OD) dimension of the the exhaust, then using the chart below determine the rain cap size you need to order.
